Additional Ways to Help

Thank you for your interest in helping FSNCC!  Below you'll find a list of several ways you might be able to contribute through your time and resources:

  • CONTRIBUTE TO ELIZABETH'S CLOSET: After a stressful stay in the NICU, every family deserves to bring their baby home with all the supplies and equipment needed to care for them with confidence.  Here at FSNCC, we are proud to offer Elizabeth's Closet to meet these needs.  Elizabeth's Closet is a warehouse of baby care items for qualifying families who are leaving the NICU (storage space is generously provided by Two Men and a Truck).  We are always in need of new or gently used furniture, blankets, clothing, bath items, diapers, and more.  To receive an updated wish list of items, please email support@fsncc.org.
  • BECOME A PARENT MENTOR: When a baby is born prematurely, nothing quite compares with the knowing, empathetic support that can come from another parent who has 'been there'.  Research has shown that families tend to cope better with the special needs of a preemie when they are offered the support of another parent who has experienced a similar situation.  It is with this understanding, that we offer our Parent Mentoring program.  Our volunteer Parent Mentors experience a one-of-a-kind training program.  Participants enjoy dinner together while reflecting on their own family's experiences, then covering an array of topics including confidentiality; effective telephone support; responding to difficult questions; and much more.  After training, participants are periodically matched with parents whose situations are similar to their own.  FSNCC monitors the first few contacts between the families, offering ongoing support and information every step of the way.  Often, relationships between 'matched' families develop into long-lasting friendships.  Parent mentors are always free to accept or decline a match as their lives and schedules permit.  If you feel you could help other families by becoming a Parent Mentor, please contact us.
  • PROVIDE A MEAL FOR A NICU SOCIAL: A home-cooked meal can be a great comfort while parents experience long days and nights in the NICU.  If you are interested in providing a meal for one of our NICU socials, please email support@fsncc.org.
